Celebrate Thurston County’s 170th Anniversary!

JHurston County will celebrate its 170th anniversary on Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Heritage Hall, located at the Thurston County Fairgrounds. The celebration, known as Heritage Day, is organized by the Thurston County Historical Commission.

The community is invited to join in the third annual Thurston County Historical Commission Heritage Day event, a celebration of county residents calling home.

Activities include:

  • Cake and soft drinks.
  • Introducing the new ‘Walls Tell Stories’ self-guided walking tour and Brewery Park Sandstone Monument.
  • A preview of the upcoming play, “The Hotel Olympian 100th Anniversary Grand Extravaganza”.
  • Watch the presentation of the annual Heritage Grant award.
  • Learn how Heritage Grant Program recipients plan to use their Thurston County funding for historic preservation. Recipients include the Northwest Institute for Leadership and Change, Olympia Historical Society and Bigelow House Museum, City of Lacey, Olympia Tumwater Foundation and others.
