Love Manteca Needs Volunteers for April 30 Effort

Love Manteca organizers are looking for help.

The annual event featuring community service projects is Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to noon.

It takes a few hundred people to come out and make a difference, according to Jim Todd of Crossroads Grace Church/Love Ripon.

He listed 12 projects that need volunteers, including three city parks that need playground bark, three plazas, four Ministry of Hope shelter sites, East Union Cemetery and painting red border.

“Most of these sites are suitable for children,” Todd noted.

Other places that need sprucing up include areas along the Tidewater Bike Trail, Lincoln Park Playground, and several fire hydrants that need painting.

Registration is required for those wishing to get involved.

Todd added that there will be no gathering in advance – rather attendees will go straight to the project site as posted online.

Volunteers will receive free Love Manteca shirts made possible by sponsors such as Raymus Homes, RJ Flooring, Calvary Community Church’s Living Well Ministry and Crossroads Grace Church.

The forecast for today calls for clear skies, Todd said.
