Volunteers prepare first aid kits for fighters in Ukraine

SOME EXPERIENCES IN THIS FIELD. RAY: IT’S AN ENTIRELY VOLUNTEER EFFORT AND INCLUDES PEOPLE FROM ACROSS DARTMOUTH HITCHCOCK’S MEDICAL SYSTEM. >> DOWN THE LINE, PUT THEM IN. I THINK ABSOLUTELY HOPE. RAY: THAT HOPE COMING IN THE FORM OF INDIVIDUAL FIRST AID KITS FOR PEOPLE FIGHTING IN UKRAINE. HUNTER FIFIELD HAS SERVED IN THE 82ND AIRBORNE SO HE KNOWS FAMILIAR WITH WHAT THEY NEED. >> I KNEW THAT SOLDIERS AND CIVILIANS WHO HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN IN THE FIELD TO FIGHT, WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO MEDICAL SUPPLIES OR MEDICAL CARE. RAY: That’s where the kits come in, containing supplies to at least give the injured a fighting chance. AMONG THE VOLUNTEERS PACKING THE KITS, A WOMAN FROM UKRAINE. >> THIS EFFORT MEANS A LOT TO US BECAUSE UKRAINE NEEDS HELP AND THERE IS WAR AND THERE ARE SO MANY INJURED SOLDIERS. HOSPITAL SUPPLIES ARE IN HIGH DEMAND RIGHT NOW. RAY: A LOT OF ITE WMS ARE ALREADY IN THE HOSPITAL WAREHOUSE, BUT THE RESPONSE FROM SUPPLIERS HAS ALSO BEEN AMAZING. >> SE OF OUR MAJOR SUPPLIERS WE CURRENTLY USE TODAY PR OVIDED DISCOUNTS THEY HAVE EXPANDED ACTUAL ORDERS TO OUR MAJOR WAREHOUSES HERE IN DARTMOUTH. RAY: ALEXEY KIM CAME IN FROM CHESHIRE MEDICAL CENTER IN KEENE TO HELP. BORN IN KHAZIKSTAN THINKS THIS SHOWS THE UKRAINIAN PEOPLE THEY ARE NOT ALONE. >> I HOPE THEY CONTINUE TO KEEP FIGHTING BECAUSE THE USS ITFAR HAS BEEN LONGER AND I BELIEVE OUR EFFORT HERE WILL HELP THEM WITH TT.HA RAY: THESE NOTES WERE WRITTEN BY CHILDREN FROM KINDERGARTEN TO HIGH SCHOOL IN MORE KITS THEY SEND AN EXTRA MESSAGE OF HOPE TO THE PEOPLE OF UKRAINE.
