Volunteers help spruce up Pine Grove Elementary School

BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) – Everyone was on deck Saturday morning sprucing up the grounds at Pine Grove Elementary School in Bay Minette.

Volunteers showed up early for the school’s Community Cleanup Day, where they did everything from lawn work, tree and hedge trimming, and pressure washing.

School leaders tell us that this year’s Leader in Me goal is community engagement. And from what we’ve seen, it looks like they’re off to a good start.

“We want to involve the community since the schools have been closed and now we are now open. So we want to involve the community as much as possible,” said Halie Williams, a 3rd grade teacher at Pine Grove Elementary and PTO representative.

“This is a great opportunity for families and the community to work together with the school system, just to let everyone know we’re open,” said Starla Sellers, vice-principal at Pine Grove Elementary.

The school thanks all the volunteers who came out and TKC Construction for donating the equipment for Saturday’s community cleanup.
