Writing NSW Announces New Paid Editing Internship Recipients
Writing NSW has announced the successful candidates for its new internship for emerging publishers with diverse cultural backgrounds.
The Paid Internship Program is presented in partnership with publishers Giramondo, Hachette and Pan Macmillan and with Diversity Arts and is designed to help “emerging publishers take their first steps in a publishing career with the aim of increasing the cultural diversity in the publishing industry ”.
The selected interns, who will follow a six-month internship and development program with the editor assigned to them, are:
- Lucia Tuong Vy Nguyen (Giramondo)
- Katherine Wong (Hachette)
- Jodie Ramodien (Pan Macmillan)
“Participating editors noted the exceptional number and quality of entries, which demonstrated the need for more opportunities like this,” Writing NSW said in a statement. “The successful candidates were selected by publishers for their potential to develop careers in the publishing industry. They are all deeply engaged in the writing community, with backgrounds as authors, journalists and editors of student publications. In their work, they have all demonstrated their commitment to fostering diversity in the industry. ‘
The three emerging editors will also be supported by an external mentoring program, led by Radhiah Chowdhury, member of Beatrice Davis. The internship program will run from February to July 2022.
